On your marks... get set... GO!

Trip 2 Day 5

The sun is just coming up here in Kokshetau, but I have already unpacked and repacked our suitcases two times in preparation for today's excitement. I feel like a swimmer on a diving board shaking out the last kinks in her muscles, breathing deeply, and staring at the far side of the pool. This is the big plunge that I've been waiting for. I'm trying to hold off the sadness I feel at leaving Kokshetau for the last time and keep myself focused on the really joyous fact that I'm about to start my journey home with Garrett. We've done it. From the chrysalis of the adoption journey, my new little family is about to emerge once and for all. Garrett and I have an amazing new life waiting on the other side of the ocean. How beautiful is that?!
The journey itself has been extraordinary and I will forever be in love with Kazakhstan, Kokshetau, Schuchinsk, and the good friends I've made here. I can't say enough how blessed I feel for the way that Kazakhstan has welcomed us and how very very grateful I am for all of the experiences we have had along the way. Now it is time to pack out from Kokshetau for good and with a heart brimming with love start our journey home with my son.

I'll write again from Almaty once we get settled.

Thinking of you right now as you're probably getting Garrett dressed for your final visit before you get to take him wherever you want, whenever you want. Congratulations, Becca and Tim!

Gotcha, Garrett!

O.K. now you are making me cry! Tim and I figure you are at the baby house right now picking Garrett up. Calvin in a few days will meet his buddy for life.
Kazakhstan will always be our hearts!

Love you so much,

I think so many people pass over Kazakhstan as an option for adoption because of the extensive travel but as you've found out its undoubtedly the most amazing part of the journey (not including bringing home your beautiful treasure from Kaz). You will be able to share with Garrett so much about the town and country of his birth.

Congratulations and best wishes. The best is yet to come.

Lovely note today Becca,

I think we all feel sad "we're" leaving Kaz, since we've been following behind you the entire way on the Blog.

I for one, however, believe you could very well be back there one day for a visit with a more grown up Garrett - NEVER say never....

See you at SFO & safe travels!
Auntie, CAS

Garrett - Welcome to your new and exciting life, we cannot wait to share it with you :-)

ps: I've got the M&Ms, just ask your big brother Calvin...
